Abstract: The National Nutrition Scorecard (NNS) is a strategic monitoring tool developed by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in collaboration with the Technical Advisory Group of the National Council on Nutrition (TAG-NCN) and Data for Decisions to Expand Nutrition Transformation (DataDENT). Launched in 2021, the NNS builds upon the success of the NGF Nutrition Scorecard and aims to track 17 high-level nutrition interventions and commitments critical to improving nutrition outcomes across Nigeria. These commitments are expected to be facilitated by both state Governors and federal Ministers. Key achievements of the NNS include the establishment of functional State Committees on Food and Nutrition in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), domestication of the National Multisectoral Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition in 22 states, establishment of government-owned creches in 9 states, and approval of paid six months maternity leave in 6 states.
Description: The NNS is a vital tool for enhancing nutrition governance, promoting political commitment, and fostering multisectoral collaboration to address the nutrition challenges facing Nigeria.
