The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Initiative for Peace and Inclusive Security is one designed to address the issues of insecurity and violence in the country. The initiative conceives several responses to the rising conflicts and insecurity across the country, including a regular, say, monthly/quarterly interactive platform. This idea is based on the conviction that durable peace and inclusive security can only be achieved through inter-agency cooperation among key actors (State and non-State) in diverse sectors. The NGF is a non-partisan association of all 36 State Governors. The NGF Secretariat is a policy hub and resource centre that serves as the technical and administrative arm of the NGF. It oversees the operations of the Forum, gives direction, and effectively engages partners and stakeholders to achieve the core objectives of the 36 State governors of the federation. The collaborative peace keeping initiative will help in creating a platform that will provide a forum for sharing experiences on Government-civil society initiatives, testing practicable ideas, and pushing for implementation of innovative solutions to conflict and insecurity. The process design and delivery strategy will focus on engagement of key stakeholders that are relevant to a theme, invited to the forum to contribute to generating policy options for addressing key conflict and security issues including practicable ways of addressing them. The rich diversity of the participants would provide opportunity for the promotion of strategic partnerships among a network of actors. Working groups will be in place to ensure implementation of the action plans. The dialogues will be a tool for stimulating appropriate actions for addressing conflict and security concerns while influencing critical decision makers through the instrumentality of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).en_US
