One of the major targets of the United Nations’ third Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), is to ensure access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable essential medicines and vaccines, for all. Access to essential medicines and other health products is not only a human right irrespective of setting or socio-economic status but also an important strategy to realizing the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Globally, the most leading causes of death and disability can be alleviated, treated or prevented with cost-effective essential medicines. However, unavailability and poor access to essential drugs and the limited availability of basic medical equipment remains major problems of the health system in developing countries.en_US
